John Burke

Welcome to Team ATLAS Health and Wellness!

My name is John Burke and I’ve been teaching Health and Wellness at Mesa Middle School since 2021. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise and Sports Science from Texas State University and a Master’s Degree in Sports Management from American Military University. Aside from teaching at Mesa, I also coach varsity football at Ponderosa High School in Parker, Colorado. 

I’m originally from San Diego, California and graduated highschool in 2010. From there, I joined the United States Army as a military police officer. I served 5 years active duty and participated in Operation Enduring Freedom overseas. It was an amazing experience which propelled me to new heights I never thought tangible. After the military, I began working in the financial field as an advisor. Although challenging, I noticed a hole in my life and the urge to do something greater. Ever since this realization, I became a teacher and never looked back!

For fun I like to golf, snowboard, watch sports and hang out with my wife Lauren and our three cats! If you ever have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me anytime. I genuinely enjoy teaching at Mesa and look forward every year to molding the next generation!
