I started teaching in 2002, in central Illinois, where I taught Spanish, English composition, math, math intervention and reading intervention.  I taught middle school students for 15 years before moving to Colorado in 2017.  Before joining Mesa, I taught 5th grade at South Ridge Elementary for a year and a half.  I've been a math and reading interventionist at Mesa since fall of 2020.

I teach Dimensions in Literacy (DIL) and Dimensions of Math (DOM) to 6th & 7th graders.  DIL and DOM are both intervention courses to help students bridge gaps in their understanding.  Both courses will include whole group instruction, small group instruction, and the students will have individual, tailored lessons, using software that is based on their own needs that are determined with a diagnostic assessment.  DIL class will use Read 180, while DOM will use SuccessMaker for individual lessons.  Parents can expect to receive data relating to student growth in September, January and in May.  Should students demonstrate significant growth, they may be recommended for exiting DIL/DOM class in December or May.
