Hello My Name Is...

Dear Panda students and parents,
Welcome to Individuals and Societies: American History Edition! After an extra long summer, I am extra excited to welcome new panda bears to my classroom. This will be my second year at Mesa, and my third school year in Colorado!  I was born and raised in South Louisiana and graduated from LSU with a degree in marketing and a minor in international studies. My husband and I were married in June 2019, and we love to camp, hike, and travel the world together. I love trying new dishes cuisines from around the world, cooking, music, dancing, farmers markets, and learning more about my Cajun French heritage and language.  During our long summer, I even started learning how to play ukulele!
I fell in love with teaching while working as a teaching assistant in France, and I am grateful to have rediscovered this passion while working in a Title I school in the Denver Public Schools system. My goal this school year is to create an enjoyable learning environment for my students where they feel safe, empowered by knowledge, and set up for success. I look forward to getting to know all of you as we begin this school year.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Pickett
