About Our Programs 

DCSD Middle School Sports are non-cut programs. 
There are NO Tryouts for Middle School Sports Teams. 
Our team sports are open to all students in grades 6th, 7th & 8th.
Sixth graders will play on 7th Grade Teams. 7th Graders are only allowed to play on 7th Grade teams; and 8th Graders are only allowed to play on 8th Grade teams.

The first week of practice is used to evaluate players skills, and place athletes on the appropriate skill level team. Based on the coaches evaluation of skills for the sport, players will be placed on  either the A, B, or C team. Our highest skill level players will be on the A team, and so on. There is only one A, and B level team for Middle School sports; schools may have multiple numbers of C teams to allow all students an opportunity to participate regardless of skill level. 

Cross Country, Wrestling, and Track are individualized sports open to all our students 
grades 6th - 8th. There are no levels in these programs, as well as no tryouts for the team.

Athletics Fees

$95 per sport

• Fees are paid electronically through the registration process on My School Bucks. Please see registration information below.
• Sports fees are waived if your student is approved for free or reduced lunches with the District. In addition to providing the lunch room a copy, you must provide the bookkeeper a copy of the letter of approval in order for fees to be waived.

Registration

*Registrations are done online.
To avoid technical issues, it is recommended that mobile devices are not used for the registration process.

• If you are unable to complete the online registration or have questions about online payments please contact the Bookkeeper at Mesa Middle School at 303-387-4750.
• The Deadline to Register for a sport is midnight the day before a season starts. Please check the Sport Season Dates below for more information. Please note there are capacity limits for team sports.  Students who are registered after the deadline may be put on a waiting list if we have reached our capacity for teams.

Athletic Eligibility

• Eligibility status will be determined on a student’s Work Habits and Content Knowledge grades weekly. If a student has a “U or I” in Work Habits, or an “I” in Content Knowledge for any class, they will be ineligible for one game/contest that week.
• Eligibility reports will be run every week on Monday for the sport season. For more detailed information, please read our Athletic Eligibility Policy.

Sports Physical Forms

• All registration forms, money due ($95) and physical forms are due on or before the first day of practice. 
• No student will be allowed to participate until their signed sports physical is turned into the front office.

Monday-Thursday 3 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Friday 3 p.m. - 4 p.m.
