Course Description

Course Description: In Language and Literature students seek to learn more about themselves in relation to the world around them. The Language and Literature curriculum is literature based and focuses on comprehending stated and implied meaning, expanding vocabulary, and developing a foundation of literary concepts. The course incorporates significant literature and emphasizes the integration of critical thinking, listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Students will learn specific reading strategies to strengthen comprehension while they examine the literary elements and literary terms.  Emphasis will be placed on teaching students to become independent and strategic learners and critical thinkers.
