Hello My Name Is...
Maria Guerra
Hey Mesa Bears! I was born and raised in Centennial, CO. I graduated from the beautiful University of Colorado Colorado Springs in May 2019 with a degree in English and an emphasis in Secondary Education. During my time there, I played Division II basketball, volunteered as an English tutor for at-risk youth, and worked at the Writing Center on campus.
After graduating, I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in South Africa for eight months. I had the privilege of working alongside my colleagues to teach English to learners in grades 1-3 and coach athletic teams.
I am entering my third year as a Team Glacier's 7th Grade English teacher. I am so blessed to have the privilege to teach your students! I also coach 7th and 8th grade girls basketball.
I live in Castle Rock with my husband and dog. In my free time, I love to play sports, hike fourteeners, read books, bake, and try not to kill my plants.
I am very passionate about helping my students utilize their skills to volunteer in their local, state, and global communities. My goal is for students to develop their growth mindset and increase their empathetic capacities to make a difference in our world.
